Frequently asked questions
How is the SEO score calculated?
Each check has a weight based on its impact on rankings — indexability, HTTP status and the title tag weigh the most. A passed check earns its full weight, a warning half, and an error nothing. The score is the share of points earned, from 0 to 100.
What's a good SEO score?
80 or higher means the page has solid on-page fundamentals. 50–79 means there are clear quick wins. Below 50 usually means something important is broken, like a missing title, a noindex tag or a slow, thin page.
Does a perfect score guarantee top rankings?
No. On-page SEO is the foundation, but rankings also depend on content quality, search intent, backlinks and competition. Fixing on-page issues makes sure nothing holds the page back.
Why does the checker see different content than my browser?
We fetch the raw HTML the way search engine crawlers do on their first pass. If your content, title or links are added by JavaScript, they may be missing here — and Google and AI crawlers may struggle with them too.
How long should my title and meta description be?
Aim for 30–60 characters (about 600 pixels) for the title and 70–160 characters for the meta description. Longer text gets truncated in Google's results. Use our SERP preview tool to check the exact pixel width.
Can I audit my whole website?
This free tool checks one page at a time. A serp.ac site audit crawls every page of your site weekly, tracks your health score over time and alerts you when something breaks.
