Notifications

Get alerts for lost links, payments, ranking and AI changes, audits and billing by email, Telegram, Slack or Discord, and choose which alert goes where.

serp.ac keeps an eye on your links, rankings, AI visibility and site health around the clock, and tells you when something needs your attention. You decide which alerts you get and where: by email, in Telegram, or in a Slack or Discord channel for your team. Every alert is also saved in the app, so nothing gets lost.

You'll set this up in Settings → Notifications, and connect team chats in Settings → Integrations.

How it works

Each alert belongs to an event type. For every event you can switch each channel on or off:

Event Email Telegram
Link lost On On
Link changed (nofollow, anchor, noindex) On On
Page de-indexed / indexing results Off On
Link payment or expiry coming up On On
Big ranking changes Off On
Maps ranking changes (local grid) On On
AI visibility changes On Off
Billing (trial ending, payments, failed payments, renewals, refunds) Always on On
Site audit finished / health dropped On On
Weekly digest On Off
Product announcements Off On

The table shows the defaults. Slack and Discord start with the same settings as the Telegram column, except billing, which never goes to team chats by default because it can contain invoice details.

Billing emails are mandatory. Trial-ending and failed-payment notices must always reach you, so the billing email box is ticked and can't be turned off. You can still choose whether billing alerts also go to Telegram, Slack or Discord.

A channel only receives alerts once it's connected: the Telegram column takes effect after you connect Telegram, and the Slack and Discord columns stay greyed out until you add a webhook.

Step by step

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications.
  2. Under Telegram, click Connect Telegram (optional, see below).
  3. To use Slack or Discord, open Settings → Integrations and add a webhook (see below).
  4. Back in Which alerts, on which channel?, tick the channels you want for each event.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Check that everything arrives: use Send test for Telegram and on the Integrations page for Slack and Discord.

Telegram

  1. Click Connect Telegram. A Telegram link opens in a new tab; it's single-use and valid for 10 minutes.
  2. In Telegram, tap Start in the chat with our bot.
  3. Return to serp.ac. The page detects the connection automatically and shows "Telegram account connected".

Link not opening? Open Link not opening? Connect with a code, send /start to our bot in Telegram, and it replies with a 6-digit code (valid for 10 minutes). Enter it under Link code and click Verify code.

Once connected, use Send test to get a test message, or Disconnect to stop Telegram alerts.

Bot commands:

  • /status — an overview of your projects: links, active, with issues, lost, and keywords.
  • /links — links with issues or lost, each with a re-check button.
  • /plan — your plan, its status and your indexing quota (/usage works too).
  • /settings — a link to your notification settings.
  • /stop — disconnects this chat and stops notifications.

Buttons in messages let you act without opening the app: 🔄 Re-check on link alerts, ✅ Paid and ✖️ Won't renew on payment reminders, and 🚀 Send to indexer when a page drops out of the index (it asks you to confirm first, because it uses one indexer URL from your quota). Each message also has an Open in serp.ac button. For security, buttons that change data only work in a private chat with the bot.

Slack and Discord

Alerts can go to a team channel through an incoming webhook. Only the account owner or an admin can set this up.

Slack:

  1. Open api.slack.com/apps → Create New App → From scratch.
  2. Go to Features → Incoming Webhooks and turn it on.
  3. Click Add New Webhook to Workspace, pick a channel and copy the URL (it starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/).

Discord:

  1. Open the channel settings (⚙) → Integrations → Webhooks.
  2. Create a New Webhook, choose the channel and click Copy Webhook URL.

Paste the URL into Slack incoming webhook URL or Discord webhook URL on Settings → Integrations, click Save, then click Send test. The status changes to Connected. To disconnect, clear the field and save.

Treat webhook URLs like passwords: anyone with the URL can post to the channel.

In the app and by email

  • The bell in the top bar shows how many alerts are unread and your latest notifications, with Mark all as read and a link to All notifications.
  • The Notifications page lists your most recent 100 notifications with their type and time; click one to jump to the relevant page. Opening the page marks everything as read.
  • Emails include an Open in serp.ac button and a link to manage your notification settings at the bottom.
  • The weekly digest arrives on Monday mornings: for each project, the number of active links, links with issues and lost links, link payments due in the next 30 days, plus how many notifications you received that week.

Notifications are written in the language set under Settings → Account → Language. If a channel is temporarily unavailable, serp.ac retries delivery automatically.

Tips

  • Use Telegram for urgent, act-now alerts (lost links, payments) and email for slower summaries (AI visibility, weekly digest).
  • Send ranking and Maps changes to a shared Slack or Discord channel so the whole team sees them.
  • Saving your choices once (even without changes) completes the "Set up notifications" step on the getting-started checklist.

FAQ

Why can't I turn off billing emails?

Billing emails cover things like your trial ending and failed payments. Missing them could cost you access to your plan, so the email channel for billing is always on. You can switch billing alerts on Telegram, Slack and Discord on or off.

The connect link is valid for 10 minutes and works once. Click Connect Telegram again for a new one, or use the 6-digit code option instead.

How do I stop Telegram notifications?

Click Disconnect in Settings → Notifications, or send /stop to the bot in your private chat. You can reconnect any time with Connect Telegram.

My Slack or Discord test failed. What should I check?

Make sure you pasted the full webhook URL and that the webhook still exists in Slack or Discord. If the service is busy, wait a minute and click Send test again.

Why didn't I get a notification after every site audit?

Audit alerts are sent for a project's first audit, and afterwards only when the health score drops by 5 points or more or the number of errors goes up. See Site audit.
