Frequently asked questions
How is the Authority score calculated?
We use DataForSEO's domain rank on its 0–100 scale: a PageRank-style score based on the quantity and quality of referring domains, on a logarithmic scale. Authority is that rank, rounded, so a domain rank of 43 is an Authority of 43. The top referring domains are ranked by their own authority, not by how much strength they pass to the domain.
Is this the same as Moz DA or Ahrefs DR?
No. Every vendor uses its own link index and formula, so numbers differ. The score is best used to compare domains against each other within the same tool — like your site versus competitors.
What is a good domain authority?
It depends on your niche. 0–19 is low, 20–39 fair, 40–59 good, 60–79 strong and 80+ is reserved for the biggest sites on the web. Aim to beat the sites that rank above you, not an absolute number.
What's the difference between backlinks and referring domains?
Backlinks counts every individual link; referring domains counts unique websites. Ten links from one site are ten backlinks but one referring domain — and referring domains matter far more for rankings.
What does the dofollow ratio tell me?
The share of backlinks that pass ranking value. A natural profile has a healthy mix; a very low dofollow ratio means most links are nofollow, sponsored or ugc and contribute little authority.
